The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Bunyangabu Mr. Jolly Tibemanya has cautioned Politicians against organizing Sports Galas that are attracting big congregations in the District.

During the District Task Force (DTF) meeting that was held on 14th October 2021, Mr. Tibemanya observed that a number of Football tournaments were organized by renown Politicians during the Independence weekend and these attracted huge crowds which are a big threat in the fight against Covid-19.

He said that sports galas are exposing the lives of the people to COVID-19. “It is not good to risk the lives of the electorate in the name of wanting to become popular,” he said.

According to the Ag. DHO Bunyangabu Dr. Richard Obeti, for the past two weeks there has been a steady raise of COVID cases in the District and this calls for the community to be more vigilant.

“We so far have 30 active cases that are under Home based care but they are not acute cases,” he explained.

Dr. Anguzu John of WHO (World Health Organizations) asked the people of Bunyangabu to also be cautious about EBOLA since there is an outbreak in Congo.

“As you observe COVID-19 SOPs, also be mindful of Ebola since there so far some confirmed cases of EBOLA in DRC,” he said.
