Bunyangabu District leadership led by the Deputy RDC, Mr Robert Kamuntu, has launched the mechanised maintenance of Lyengumba-Kyamiyaga-Kisomoro Road which measures 9.2km.
The scope of work includes re-grading and shaping of the entire road length, compacting to appropriate levels and spot gravelling, all of which is expected to last one month.
In his speech, Mr Kamuntu challenged the community members to engage in income-generating activities so as to benefit from the road.
"It will be unfortunate to have a standard road yet community members have nothing to transport through it. Kindly engage in commercial farming so that your household incomes improve because of this road," he said.
The District Roads Engineer, Mr Wilson Mutegeki, noted that the works will cost Shs 96million and called upon community members to apply for casual jobs and be paid wages for their services.
