BUNYANGABU SCOUTS ASSOCIATION EMBARK ON TREE PLANTING
The Association of Scouts and Girl Guides in Bunyangabu District have today launched a tree planting exercise in the District.
Their main aim is to improve on environmental conservation and protection.
According to Hon. John Kyaligonza the LCIII Chairperson Kabonero Sub county who also doubles as the Chairperson Scouts Association Bunyangabu District, it is eminent for the youth to get accustomed to the practice of environmental conservation and protection for a better tomorrow.
“When the youth learn to preserve the environment, then we are assured that the practice will be carried on for future generations,” he said.
Edgar Muganzi the Senior Environmental Officer Bunyangabu District, says the initiative by the Scouts Association Bunyangabu District is a good community led initiative that should be supported by all means.
He added that Bunyangabu District needs more of such groups for promoting sustainable environmental protection.
According to Damba John, the District Natural Resources Officer, the Department will always be ready to lobby for tree seedlings for any group that is willing to preserve the environment.
He appreciated Natural Resources Defense Initiative (NRDI) for donating the indigenous tree seedlings that the scout’s association have planted.
