Bunyangabu District has launched the accelerated mass covid-19 vaccination at Kateeba Health Centre II on Monday 13th December 2021. According to Dr. Richard Obeti the Ag. DHO Bunyangabu, the District has received 86,957 dozes of Covid -19 vaccination and all those aged 18 years and above are set to benefit from this campaign. “The District has now received a cumulative of 108,957 dozes of covid-19 vaccine, all health facilities are vaccinating and additional community outreaches are being carried out to take services nearer to the population,” Dr. Obeti explained. Dr. Obeti noted that only 32% of the population have been fully vaccinated and called upon the rest of the community to embrace vaccination. According to Hon. John Manume the Vice Chairperson Bunyangabu District, the community should embrace vaccination and avoid the uncoordinated hear say from people who are trying to decampaign the vaccination exercise. “I was vaccinated and I can assure you that I’m very ok, so avoid people who try to discourage you from being vaccinated,” he said. According to Nobert Karamira, the District Internal Security Officer (DISO) Bunyangabu who represented the RDC, it is important for the community to appreciate that Covid-19 still exists and therefore the relevant SOPs should be maintained even after getting vaccinated.
