AVOID PROPAGANDA-OPINION LEADERS TOLD

The Resident District Commissioner ( RDC) Bunyangabu District Mr. Joshuah Masereka has asked Opinion Leaders not to frastrate the Yellow fever vaccination exercise.

This was during one of the awareness training meetings that was held at Kibiito Health Center IV Boardroom on Monday.

Mr. Masereka explained that they had learnt through their intelligience that some opinion leaders were going around telling natives to avoid  taking the yellow fever jab claiming that that it might be toxic for their health.

" It is unfortunate that some opinion leaders are asking citzens to shan away  from being vaccinated for yellow fever claiming that the European countries have sent this medicine to punish Ugandans for having passed the Anti-Homosexuality bill. Mr. Masereka affirmed  that this is a pure lie which need  not to be given attention," he said.

According to the District Health Officer ( DHO) Dr. Richard Obeti, the Yellow fever vaccination is not new as people have been claiming. He explained that this medicine has been admnistered to a number of citzens just that the only difference is that people have been getting it from private facilities.

" A number of people have taken this vaccination and it has no side effects as such, many people who traveled outside Uganda will attest to having gotten this vaccination and they are okay," he explained.

He called upon residents to come and get vaccinated within the prescribed days.

The Yellow fever vaccination exercise commenced on Saturday 10th June 2023  and is expected  to end on Wednesday 14th June 2023.
