International Justice Mission Supports Bunyangabu Probation and Social Welfare Department

Today May 8, 2024, Bunyangabu District Local Government was delighted to receive an assortment of items from International Justice Mission (IJM) to support the District Action Centre (DAC) under the Probation and Social Welfare department.

The items included play materials, fire extinguishers, clothing, basins, file holders and cups among others.

While receiving the items at the District Action Centre, the Acting Deputy CAO, Uzia Bwambale, appreciated IJM, saying they will help the Centre meet its objectives.

"As a district, we can't do everything alone. That is why we need development partners like you. So we really appreciate your support, and we look forward to receiving more," Mr. Bwambale said.

The IJM Western Regional Manager, Emmanuel Emwamu, noted that it was in their interest to see the DAC operating smoothly. He requested that the items and equipment be protected jealously and be put to the right use.
"These items are for supporting children to recover from abuse and trauma," Mr. Emwamu emphasized.

Doreen Kabakaali, the Senior Probation and Social Welfare Officer Bunyangabu District said the support was timely because the centre was struggling to operate.

She called upon other development partners to come on board and give support since items and equipment needed are still many.

The Bunyangabu District Action Centre provides safe space for victims, especially children, to play and where necessary have a resting place as they receive other services like counselling, referral, feedback and follow up to ensure justice prevails.
