According to the revenue estimates, Shs 660 million will be from local revenue, Shs 28.2 billion from Central Government Transfers, Shs 576.6 million as transfer from other government units and Shs 634.9million from external grants. 

 

Of this budget, Shs 18 billion (59.8%) will go to wages while non-wages will take Shs 6.1 billion (20.5). Development will account for Shs 5.2 billion comes third at 17.5 per cent. 

 

However, important to note is that under the Education sector, Shs 2 billion has been committed to development which will ease the pupil-stance ratio in selected schools, buy benches and solve other critical issues in schools in the district. Works has also been allocated a higher budget of Shs 1.5 billion which will go to developing the same sector. 

 

In his opening remarks, the District Speaker, Hon Kato Hussein, encouraged the honorable councillors and the technical sides to work together to achieve the goals of the district. He also requested the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Mr. Nsubuga Isa Hood to work with the technical team to enlighten the community about taxes to ensure harmony between the district and the business community.

 

The Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr Joshua Masereka, informed council that as a District Security Committee, they had resolved that no livestock suspected thief should be granted bond. He said this was aimed at bringing an end to livestock theft. 

 

 

"We are also tracing people with illegal firearms and we request the community to keep watching out for any wrong elements in their neigbourhoods because we still have a security threat of ADF rebels," the RDC said. 

 

The District LCV chairman, James Ategeka Mugarama called for team work, saying that as leaders, they had used meagre resources to create a lasting impact in the district, especially in infrastructure development like roads, schools, health facilities among others.
