Bunyangabu Lower Local Government Staff Urged to Keep Transparent on PDM

The CAO Mr Nsubuga Isa Hood said hardworking staff would be rewarded.

Lower Local Government staff in Bunyangabu District have been urged to be transparent and avoid any forms of corruption while handling the Parish Development Model (PDM).

In a meeting held at the district council hall on Wednesday, the Chief Administrative Officer, Mr Nsubuga Isa Hood, told the Town Clerks, sub-county and Parish chiefs and Chairpersons of PDM Boards that any form of corruption or extortion would attract administrative action including interdiction and imprisonment.

Mr Nsubuga also remainded the meeting that PDM is a government strategy to get people out of poverty and there was a need to handle it with the professionalism and caution it deserves.

“Going forward, I want progress reports and success stories on PDM from Parish Chiefs regularly without fail. We are also going to start a culture of rewarding the best-performing staff to ensure hard work and excellent performance,” the CAO said.

The RDC Mr Joshua Masereka said he had already received complaints against some Parish Chiefs regarding the way they are handling the Programme and warned of severe consequences.

“And for you the political leaders, when we arrest someone, don’t come to plead for their release. If you didn’t eat the money with them, what would be your interest?” the RDC wondered.

Mr Amon Rutenta, the Secretary of the Works and Production Committee, who represented the LCV Chairperson, encouraged teamwork to ensure the success of the Programme.

Mr Rutenta asked his fellow leaders to avoid shielding corruption and those arrested over the same crime saying it hinders development.
