Bunyangabu District Local Government Launches Rehabilitation of Major Roads

Bunyangabu District Local Government launched the rehabilitation of two major roads. These are; Nyakigumba-Mukabata road which will cost Shs 13 million and Kisomoro-Bunaiga-Masibwe road which is budgeted for Shs 300 million.

During the launch, the Roads Engineer, Mr Wilson Mutegeki, told the residents in both areas that the construction would be done by the district Works Department and would not be contracted.

"We therefore urge you to be vigilant and ensure that the road equipment and the fuel are not misused. We also ask you to work with us," Eng Mutegeki said.

Eng. Mutegeki also told Kateebwa residents that the Kisomoro-Bunaiga-Masibwe road will be widened at some sections and this would require that they offer their land for the same cause without demanding compensation since the district does not have the budget.

The engineer also asked community members to desist from practices that lead to the quick destruction of roads. These include throwing garbage in the road and growing crops within the road reserve, both of which lead to blockage of the roads' drainage systems.

The RDC, Mr Joshua Masereka, noted that the government was aware of the poor state of some roads and was doing everything possible to allocate funds for rehabilitation. He asked the community members to remain calm and cooperative during the rehabilitation process as more funds get prepared for major repairs.
